Uneventful Weekend and an iPhone

Hi  Here is goes the update of the weekend with TPS and me.

Friday was a good day.  My students earned a party for scoring 86% as a class on their Content Mastery tests for their last unit.  They are always so excited to do something outside the norm.  They enjoyed their chips, cookies, and candy while watching Megamind, which by the way was kinda cute!  Its amazing what movies 6th, 7th, and 8th graders enjoy watching.  Friday was jean day for staff (insert happy dance here).  Friday night, I hung out with the mom.  It was nice to spend time with her, I really appreciate my time with her.  TPS was at Room at the Inn with his friend, Lou.  They spent the night with 9 homeless men, and witnessed to them and just talked.  TPS said he had a great time.  However, he didn't sleep at all Friday night.......which leads me into Saturday.

Saturday was supposed to be date night for TPS and me.  We have had several date nights in, and I had demanded expressed my desire to go OUT! Well, THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN.  TPS decided that he was going to play videogames and then didn't fall asleep until after 3pm.  Needless to say he was out for the night.
Gotta love him!

Sunday was second time directing Children's Church. The kids really enjoyed themselves and I had a great day.  Here is a pic of the outfit I wore for church.

Disregard the horridness of this picture!  It looked MUCH better in person!

Day 4 and Lots and Lots of Rain

Hi world!  I woke up this morning to lots and lots of rain.  Well actually, I woke up frequently throughout the night to the snores of TPS and thunder/lightning.  Still trying determine which one is which! As TPS slept and slumbered, I ,while tossing and turning, thought of just how much we are blessed.  God has truly done some amazing things in our lives, and I know He has so much more planned for us.  However, a part of me wants to wait for the inevitable "bad".  You know....something the opposite of good.  But I know I shouldn't  visit that part of me, but in retrospect I need to acknowledge that it's there.  My faith is wavering when I visit that place.  God doesn't promise a perfect life, He promises a life with His everlasting love.  And pure and simple, that love should be enough. And all He asks of us is to follow Him with a full heart.  It comes down to trust, and I must trust in the Lord.  So there is my soapbox for today.

Yesterday's outfit was fun.  I realize that it wasn't the most flattering on me,  but it looked better in the mirror.  However, it is one of my 30 for 30, so it had to be worn.  I  realize that this time next week will be my 9th day of 30 for 30.  So WOO HOO!

While talking to a co-worker this morning...I realized that March Madness is around the corner!! I love me some March Madness.  The bracket, the games, oh how I love the games.  I am not much for regular season games, but I LOVE and I do mean L-O-V-E some March Madness.  I always root for the University of Memphis.  I went there my freshmen year, and it is a place of special memories for me (both good and bad).  GO TIGERS!!!!

So without anymore further rambling from me.....here is the pic with the specs:

Cardigan:  Target
Ruffled Chiffon Top: NY and Co
Grey and black plaid pants w/ cuff: NY and Co
Burguny patent leather flats: Payless Shoes
Silver skinny belt: Ann Taylor Loft

Day 3 w/ Inspiration from Australia and an Email

WARNING: TODAY'S POST=LONG!!!!!

Let me preface with this, I don't want anyone out there to think that I am a whiner and complainer, I am but I just don't want anyone else to know.  I just wanted to be honest with you all and let you know how I was feeling at that moment.  Its my blog, and its not always going to be sunny at http://www.tishiaj.blogspot.com/ Today has started off much better than yesterday.  Amazing what an email from Atlanta, a teacher from down the hall, and a comment from Australia can do for a girl's spirit.  It also helps immensley that I have two amazing co-workers!  They know who they are (wink wink).  They are genuine and kind, and I would do anything for them.  I have to say that the two of them also helped this morning start without a hitch.  Yesterday afternon I too receive a multitude of inspiration in a variety of ways.  A sweet comment from a coworker on the blog, a email from a blogger I admire, and another sweet comment from a blogger in Australia.  This mom is amazing, and she said some things that truly resonated with me.  Check out her blog!  It will brighten anybody's day.   It also helped that my Kirk Franklin CD was booming from my car speakers as I rode into work this morning.  Gotta love KIRK and a little bit a bass in your trunk!

Anyway, TPS did NOT do a very good job in the photography department this morning.  Maybe, I can con discuss with him the possibility of buying a better camera and taking some photography lessons together.  A girl can only hope! But enough with my ramblings....here are the pics with the specs......

white button up-JC Penney
blue and white striped sweater-A.N.A (JC Penney)
brown skirt: I.N.C (Macy's)
belt-Forever 21 (decided against the belt after this pic was taken)
brown suede boots-GAP
white socks-courtesy of TPS
brown tights-Target

Sidenote:  I will not be participating in 30 for 30 on Fridays and Saturdays, because 1) Fridays I wear jeans and a school t-shirt for casual day, and 2) Saturdays I wear Gap sweatsuits or pajamas!  Sundays are church and 30 for 30 will start up again.  One of the many reasons why I started this challenge is to learn new and creative ways to wear my work clothes.  I don't have many jeans so I didn't incorporate them in my 30 for 30, but I will wear them whenever TPS decides he wants to take his crazy adoring wife out in public. HA!   Hope this doesn't make me a cheater!

Day 2 and some more junk

Posted by Picasa
Green cropped jacket: NY and Co.
Dress:  Cato's
Black boots: Sears (exact replica of Steve Madden Black Inka boots)
Black turtleneck: Sears
Tights: Wal-Mart
1 day down, 29 to go!  Just typing that makes me feel overwhelmed!  I try not to let comments from other people validate my ensembles!  My clothes are my clothes, and I am okay with that.  One of the many reasons I started this challenge is due to my self esteem.  As women, we do struggle with insecurities about weight, hair, looks, skin, the list could literally go on forever.  However, I have to remember whose I am, and what I am.  I have nothing to be ashamed of.  I am made in my Father's image, and that makes me happy.  I have seen so many cute outfits, and have thought to myself..."Oh, I can't wear that because of this or that".  BUT NO MORE!!!!!   I will wear what I want to wear with a big 'ol country grin on my face!  TPS DID give me an extra kiss this morning after taking my picture because he liked this outfit so much!  HEHE

My point is, if you feel confident in what you wear than don't let anyone make you feel otherwise. When I left my house this morning, I FELT GOOD, and I felt that I looked good too, only to be greeted with a stare downs from co-workers.  But instead of being the old Tishia that would have said some snide remark as my reply, I turned the other cheek and gave them a smile. (I did have to express my distaste with one of my co-workers, because we work in the exact same classroom!)  They don't make me and they for sure can't break me. So my challenge continues in so many ways!

Also, shout out to Becky and  Emma Kay who commented on yesterday's post You women are pretty awesome!  I am so happy that you commented and decided to follow!  I can't wait to read all about you and your happenings.  This blog world is one exciting place to be!

Also, another blog to read is Jessica's blog.  She is an amazing mother of a beautiful daughter, and has a wonderful husband. Wish I could hang out with her in real life!  She was the very first person to comment on blog, and I truly truly appreciate it!   Her walk with God is inspiring!

Well, until next time, which will be tomorrow!

Weekend!!!!

This weekend was blissful!   TPS and I just laid around the house on Saturday, and it was just what the doctor ordered.  We discussed our plans for the summer and caught up on our very full DVR.  Sidenote:  I LOVE OUR DVR!!

Sunday was filled with church and visiting family in Hendersonville.   We ate lunch with TPS's parents, and hung out with them.  I have the best In-laws ever!   Their love for us knows no bounds.  They are always there for us, and always have encouraging words to say.  I love watching their love for each other.  I pray that TPS and I will continue to feel the same way about each other as his parents do for each other.  Its just so amazing how God works.  He is truly AWESOME!

This week is a busy one filled with after school tutoring, hair appointments, meetings with legislation on the TEACHERS UNDER ATTACK BILLS, and daily happenings of life with TPS.  TPS has tests all this week for school, a full work schedule, a hockey game with his bestie (who happens to be the husband of my bestie), and Room at the Inn (with same bestie).  This next weekend will be another one of those just what the docotor ordered type of weekends. However, I am blessed to experience a week full of life and love.  I work with some AWESOME people and that makes the work week that much better.  Plus I have 4 "new to me" outfits to wear.  Life is good, and I am blessed!

Day 1

Introducing Day 1! I am finding myself super excited about my new challenge! Its just 7:54 am, and I have recieved several compliments and well wishes on my new venture. Now for the details about the ensemble for Day 1!

brown cropped sweater- Old Navy
burgundy ruffle chifon top- JC Penney
brown dress pants-JC Penney
burgundy patent leather flats-Payless Shoes
necklacs-Avenue

I don't understand why people despise Payless Shoes. They have great deals, and I always find a cute pair of flats. Now, I do believe that I look like a stuffed sausage, but I am working on losing weight. Hopefully, this blog will not only chronicle my life with TPS, my job, and my outfits, but my weight loss journey as well.

Introducing the 30 items for my 30 for 30!

Well.....I have selected my 30 items for my very first 30 for 30!  I called my mama to let her know that I was starting this, and she was very encouraging and then asked how many of my items were hers!  I am sp happy to say that 0 items are hers.  Don't want her commenting on how she wanted that (fill in the blank here) back!

Back story....... my mother is the epitome of style and grace.  She is truly MY fashion icon!  She is always dressed to the nines, no matter where she is going.  She exudes confidence in a sweatsuit to grocery shop or a dress and heels for church. She always shops on a budget, and instilled in my sister and I to never pay full price for clothes.  She is just an inspiration to me, not only for her clothing but for all the other aspects of her life.  Love my mama!

Here goes nothing!

6 pairs of shoes.  I am a teacher, my shoes have GOT to be comfortable!

2 skirts

7 sweaters and 4 of them are black.  1 is a long cardigan, 1 is a short cardigan, 1 is a turtleneck, and 1 is ruffled!

3 pairs of pants

3 jackets

6 shirts (one is a white collar shirt but it's in the laundry) BTW every single one of these shirts is ruffled!

3 dresses

Wish me luck and as I start this new journery.  Of course, TPS has just reminded me that we get our income tax refund next month, and I can't buy clothes with it!  WHEW.....this might be harder than I thought!

First Post

My name is Tishia, and I read blogs daily. And I do mean DAILY! I am addicted to learning and reading about other people's thoughts, daily happenings, and everything in between.

My husband laughs at me or with me (his words) daily at my joy for reading blogs.  I started one over a year ago, but deleted it.  I decided today I am going to start again.  My blog is for me, and I plan to stick with that.

If you know me, you know I love clothes.  Everything about them.  A cute outfit makes my day.  Its the reason I wake up in the morning (okay....slight exaggeration, but you get the point).  I LOVE CLOTHES!  So, after reading so many blogs about x number of things, I am going to start a blog remixing 30 items.  I plan to create 30 outfits using 30 items. Can I do this?  I don't know but I am up to the challenge.

My blog will also include my rants and raves about teaching.  It's what I do and I love it.  I may include some funny or not so funny stories about my daily life in the classroom.

My blog will also include my rants and raves about marriage and being married to the preacher's son.  Being married is a joy, but its a change.  I never really liked change, but boy do I love this one!  TPS (the preacher's son), is a wonderful man.  He is so hard working.  He is currently going to physical therapy assistant school, working a full time job, and taking care of a needy sometime whiny wife. He's a busy man, I tell ya!  He has a work ethic like I have never seen!

So, blog world.........I'M BACK!!!!!!!
